In April 2022, the WANEP National Early Warning System (NEWS) recorded 86 human security incidents. The incidents resulted in 55 fatalities and 128 injuries. The fatalities recorded involved 37 males and 9 females and 9 other deaths of which the gender was unclear from reports. Cases of injuries recorded also consisted of 27 males and 17 females, while 84 other reported injuries were not clear on gender specifics.
